Trisha Yearwood To Receive Inaugural Humanitarian Award, Perform at 2024 CMT Music Awards
CMT is recognizing Trisha Yearwood for her kind heart and good deeds by anointing her the recipient of the inaugural “June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award.” Yearwood will receive the honor and perform on the 2024 CMT MUSIC AWARDS, which will air from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 7 (8:00-11:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.*
June Carter Cash inspired the award, which recognizes an artist, duo/group or industry veteran who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to the community and their fellow artists as Cash did.
In addition to accepting the award, Yearwood will debut her new song in the world-premiere performance of “Put It In A Song,” the first release from her upcoming album.
The performance is the first time Yearwood has been on the CMT Awards since 2019.
“We are thrilled to honor the incomparable Trisha Yearwood with the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at this year’s show,” shared CMT Music Awards Executive Producers in a statement. “Trisha has a unique ability to rally a community, whether that may be families in need with Habitat for Humanity or uplifting her fellow artists and entertainers trying to carve a path in the industry. She embodies the bold strength of June, who tirelessly devoted herself to service and community, and the namesake for this award. Both multi-hyphenate trailblazers eloquently crafted a script for others to model, letting their hearts and authenticity guide their personal, professional and public lives.”
Yearwood’s philanthropic work includes her decades-long dedication to Habitat for Humanity. She and her husband, Garth Brooks, were named Habitat Humanitarian in 2016. In addition, Yearwood founded Dottie’s Yard to help animal rescues and supports Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Grammy Foundation MusiCares, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, Starkey Hearing Foundation, Susan B. Komen Foundation and more.
